England’s F1 Racing Stars

The first choice for many to celebrate most occasions is to indulge in a few drinks. But, why not treat yourself to an epic racing experience this Saint George’s Day? Courtesy of Karting Nation, here’s our list of English racing drivers who have earned their place amongst the racing elite:

Lewis Hamilton

Going straight into the best of the best here, Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly one of the most famous and highly regarded Formula 1 drivers to hit the circuit. Currently, he stands on four F1 titles – setting his sights on earning a fifth this year. But, even Lewis Hamilton had to start somewhere. He started off his racing career through karting, which soon led him on the path to greatness once he’d made a name for himself on the karting circuit. By 2008, he’d reached new heights by commencing his F1 career. Ever his then, he has gone from strength to strength – earning himself plaudits from racing fans across the world.

Jenson Button

Born in Somerset in January 1980, Jenson Button has firmly established himself within the F1 driving elite throughout his F1 career. No longer competing within F1, Jenson was able to earn 1,235 career points in 306 starts. He may have only won one F1 championship back in 2009, but Jenson Button is most certainly one of the biggest names to have graced our screens in recent years.

Nigel Mansell

Born in Upton-upon-Severn in 1953, Nigel Mansell is an English former racing driver who made a name for himself not only within F1, but in the CART Indy Car World Series too. In 1992, Mansell was able to earn a Formula One Championship, winning the World Series just a year later. He spent 15 years competing within the F1, and is regarded as the second most successful British F1 driver of all time with 31 wins, behind his compatriot Lewis Hamilton who at the time of writing stands on 62 wins.

There’s certainly no need to have the racing skills of any of our top English drivers to take to the circuit.
