Karting Nation

Halloween Karting on the Streets of Tokyo!

Halloween is something which you wouldn’t normally associate with karting, but then Japan doesn’t really do normal. For the ultimate combination of speed and spookiness Tokyo is the place to be!

Instead of dressing up in their most terrifying costumes and demanding sweets off their neighbours, the people of Tokyo don their fancy dress and take to the streets for one of the most bizarre kart races on the planet.

Fancy dress is optional but you wouldn’t know that as the fleet of ghosts, zombies and cartoon characters cruise down the road. Costumes range from superheroes to Samurais, and of course no fancy dress street race would be complete without Mario and Luigi! Perhaps what’s most strange about the whole thing is that the race takes place alongside the every day traffic of the city, and all you need to take part is a valid driving licence.

You’d probably expect the karters to get a barrage of abuse from passing motorists as they try to navigate one of the world’s busiest cities, but instead pedestrians and drivers stop and take photos of the passing karters. So as long as you don’t mind posing for a few photos you should escape the wrath of your fellow road users.

So however you spend Halloween, we guarantee it’s nowhere near as fun as this bonkers race around the streets of Tokyo!
